Principal's Message
Dear School One Parents,

Happy School Year! I hope you have had an enjoyable summer and are ready to work with teachers to assure your children have an amazing 2019-20 school year! As the first day of school quickly approaches, we anticipate a school year of learning, activities and opportunities to grow! As always, School One teachers and staff eagerly await the arrival of the students and are prepared to provide them with challenging, rigorous instruction. Children will continue to learn in a safe, nurturing environment as they “Learn with a Growth Mindset”, learning from making mistakes, persevering, and trying again. We will continue to have exciting evening programs, performances, and events for parents and families to attend.

Through the use of innovative technology and a challenging curriculum, we will continue to assist students in developing skills required to graduate with college and career ready skills. Our new reading program “Into Reading”, Go Math program, exciting S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) lessons, and the third grade S.T.E.M. program, will continue to provide opportunities for EVERY student to be challenged through enriched instruction, digital experiences, and engaging classroom lessons.

School One teachers are prepared to challenge students across the content areas, assessing students regularly and using student data to determine the best instruction for every child. RTI (Response to Intervention) will occur daily in kindergarten through third grades, providing instruction tailored to challenge both struggling and advanced learners.

The School One HSA (Home and School Assoc.) continues to plan exciting fundraisers and activities for the upcoming school year, to include Scholastic Book Fairs, Dine-Out Nights, Muffins with Mom/Donuts with Dad, Grandparents Day, Joe Corbi’s, (digital) Box tops, the Holiday Shop, Reading Pajama Parties, and much more!! Parent volunteers are needed!

Students are expected to demonstrate APPROPRIATE school behaviors throughout the school day and while riding the bus. Please review the PK-6 District Handbook with your child/children.

The District UNIFORM POLICY requires all students to wear a uniform daily BEGINNING ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. NO CARGO PANTS OR BALLOON POCKETS ON PANTS OR SHORTS!

STUDENTS ARE IN JEOPARDY OF RECEIVING OUT OF SCHOOL SUSPENSIONS FOR UNIFORM VIOLATION effective on the first day of school. If you need further information, please visit our website at www.winslow-schools.com or contact School One.
